Have you recently received an email from Google Ads requesting identity verification? If so, you’re not alone—and more importantly, don’t ignore it! This isn’t just another task on your to-do list; it’s a crucial step to ensure your Google Ads continue running without interruption. According to the information available, you typically have 30 days to respond to this verification request. If you fail to do so, your ads will be paused.
What is Google Ads Verification?
The Google Ads verification process is a protective measure designed to ensure integrity and transparency in your Google Ads ecosystem. The process takes less than a minute to complete, but you must provide standard business documentation, so make sure to have those handy.
Here’s a quick video to walk you through the process:
How to Verify Your Account
Follow the step-by-step guide below to verify your account:
- Head to Billing: Once logged into your Google Ads account, navigate to the Billing section.
- Find Advertiser Verification: Within the Billing menu, locate and click on Advertiser Verification.
- Start the Process: Click Start Verification to begin.
- Advertising Agency Status: Google will ask, “Are you an advertising agency?” If you (the reader) are a direct business advertiser, you’ll likely answer no.
- Payment Method: Next, you’ll be asked how you will pay for your ads. Select the answer that accurately reflects your situation.
- Get Started with Business Verification: Click Get Started to proceed to the next stage and verify your business.
- Prepare Documentation: You must provide a driver’s license, passport, state ID, or green card.
- Initiate Verification: Click on Start Verification again to proceed with the document submission.
- Fill in Information and Upload: You will be prompted to fill in the required information and upload a photo or scan of your document.
- Submit and Wait: Once you’ve filled in the details and uploaded your document, submit the information. At this point, the verification submission should be complete unless Google requires additional documentation.
While sometimes the verification happens immediately, it’s good to be aware that it can take approximately 3 to 5 business days if immediate verification isn’t possible. Rest assured that once this process is complete, your ads can continue running without any issues.
Don’t let this seemingly small task slip through the cracks and negatively impact your Paid Search campaigns. By taking just a few moments to complete the Google Ads identity verification, you can ensure the continued visibility and effectiveness of your advertising efforts. Stay proactive, respond promptly, and keep your business growing!
